In June 2015 Mukambi Safaris has opened a new luxury bush camp in an undiscovered part of Kafue National Park, Fig Tree Bush Camp. This luxury camp is only 1½ hours driving from the lodge and is appropriately named after the big fig tree in the middle of the camp. Fig Tree Bush Camp is situated next to a beautiful beach created by the dried sand banks of the Shishamba River. After supper guests will sit around a campfire, feet in the sand, gazing at the stars and listening to the sounds of the African Bush.
Fig Tree Bush Camp will overlook a large lagoon, 1.7 km long and about 60m wide. This lagoon maintains it’s alluring water throughout the season attracting an array of wildlife including elephant, puku, impala, warthog, zebra, and hartebeest. Predators like lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena are regular visitors and the wild dog have been known to prey on the concentration of game. Guests will spend afternoons relaxing to the sights and sounds of hippos, crocodiles and birds within the lagoon.
